Originally conceived to support military applications, satellite navigation has had a major impact on our daily lives and the way we do business across the globe.
Telespazio VEGA has been involved in the design and development of Europe’s global navigation satellite system since the very early system studies in 1997. Today, we are working in many areas of the Galileo development, including operations engineering, project support and simulations development. We are also closely involved with supporting the GIOVE-A mission the first test satellite to be launched. Our satellite navigation engineers are currently based in Rome, Toulouse and ESTEC, providing consultancy to the Galileo programme, along with significant development projects currently on-going both at Luton and Darmstadt.
While we continue to play an active role in the implementation of Galileo, our attention is now also firmly on supporting the development of applications in markets such as aviation, transport and logistics. We are shareholders in the Centre for Satellite Navigation in Hessen (CESAH) and we are also participating in a number of R&D programmes, aimed at stimulating new service and product development.
