Spacecraft Operations Training Centre (STC)

More than 30 years' experience in the field of satellite operations training allows Telespazio VEGA to offer the Spacecraft Operations Training Center (STC), a general training tool for operators, technicians or engineers to satellite control.

Components of the STC

The STC is a comprehensive training system, including workstations (trainers and trainees), control center and simulated satellite. This may be generic or specific depending on the objective of the training program. Telespazio VEGA has 15 different satellites simulators.

Added to this software and hardware infrastructure, a training program organised around 12 modules (each ranging from two to ten days), consisting of theoretical and computer-assisted operations scenarios (up-post, orbit change manoeuvres, scheduled outages).

Profiles targeted by the STC

The STC is designed to meet different levels of need:

• Train staff in the realities of satellite control. The STC is a complete system installed by the user which enables them to organise their own training sessions. This is an appropriate response to the need for training on the subject, to the transmission of a comprehensive technique culture on satellites and their behavior in flight. It is ideal for training engineers in space technology (up-post, orbitography, system architecture, thermal and power available, payload, desorbitation) by simulating an operational control of a satellite in orbit.
• The user has acquired or is about to acquire a satellite. The STC allows for a future generation of technicians and engineers to control the simulator using the more accurate satellite to monitor. This training center enables the development of realistic operational scenarios replicated in real time conditions. The satellite simulator, provided by the manufacturer or developed by Telespazio VEGA (a leading supplier of satellite simulators for the European Space Agency) can be integrated easily in the STC.
