What is BGAN?

BGAN is the world's first mobile satellite communications service that provides users with simultaneous broadband voice and data communications that can be used in the remotest of locations. By simply connecting a BGAN terminal to a laptop, users have access to a reliable, secure and easy to use broadband service anywhere in the world, giving them a guaranteed performance for voice, data, video and text communications.

BGAN from Telespazio VEGA allows users to quickly and easily set up a fully functional broadband mobile office with standard office applications such as email and internet, file transfer, fax and telephony in the remotest of locations. And by using bolt-on technologies and applications the service can be enhanced to include a host of additional capabilities including for example security, surveillance and remote monitoring, communications on the move and encryption.

Getting Started with BGAN

Getting started with BGAN couldn't be more simple. BGAN is accessible via a range of small, lightweight satellite terminals, which provide performance options to suit different operational needs.

All you need to do is connect a terminal to a laptop or multiple laptops, via wired or wireless connections, including Bluetooth or WiFi, depending on your choice of terminal, direct the terminal towards the satellite position and make the connection. In normal circumstances you should be connected within a matter of minutes.

The smallest terminals are designed to suit single users, for whom portability is the primary concern. Larger terminals within the range offer higher bandwidth and are particularly suitable for small teams, who may need to establish temporary offices for longer periods. Terminals can be used indoors and outdoors, being robust enough to withstand challenging environments and extremes of temperature.

Global Coverage

BGAN from Telespazio VEGA uses three powerful I-4 Inmarsat satellites, strategically positioned to allow communications across virtually the entire planet.

With 16 times the power and capacity of previous satellites, each delivers a significantly enhanced service for users. So no matter where you are in the world, you can access high quality broadband data and voice services.

The BGAN coverage map depicts Inmarsat's expectations of coverage, but does not represent a guarantee of service. The availability of service at the edge of coverage areas fluctuates depending on various conditions. The BGAN spot beam coverage map provides further details.

The Portal

More flexibility, more functionality, more control

The portal is Telespazio's VEGA online administration tool, and is an integral part of the BGAN offering. It allows the user to monitor and manage key aspects of their BGAN account through a web browser, so it can be accessed at any time, day or night. All you need is a username and a password, and you’re ready to go.
