EOLI

EOLI is a multi-satellite tool which
offers easy standardised access to various Earth observation
resources such as image catalogues, product ordering functions and
image acquisition request deposit tools.
ESA standard
The European Space Agency (ESA)
commissioned Telespazio VEGA to develop EOLI, which is now used as
ESA's standard tool for accessing all of ESA’s Earth observation
data services.
Easy to use
The design of the EOLI interface with the
remote catalogues allows an easy add-on of new catalogue data, or
new online service. The multi-mission catalogue includes not only
ESA collections, but also collections from other suppliers such as
Spotimage
Astrium, Ikonos and Landsat.
EOLI makes it easy for
a user to find data by allowing complex queries, searching many
sources at the same time, while viewing either in 2D or 3D search
results over a background of OpenGIS layers (compliant with
WMS/WFS, OGC standards) as well as ESRI shape files, Keyhole’s
KML.
Using World Wind
Telespazio VEGA and ESA have chosen
NASA World Wind technology because of the ease of its integration
within the EOLI client, its
reliability and 3D capabilities. World Wind module makes it
possible to obtain a 3D visualisation of the globe. Users can
search, select and appreciate their choice with great ease and
freedom.
Benefits of EOLI
- Wider EO catalogue choice
- New catalogues or providers can be added when available
- Providers can tune EOLI to their
product processing systems
- Enables easier image interpretation and selection
- Easily editable by users and providers
- Multiple export formats
Telespazio VEGA proposes additional modules to complete the
client system and satisfy its need by re-using EOLI’s several
generic features. In the future, EOLI will support HMA
(Heterogeneous Missions Accessibility) standard.
